Hara District No. 5142 was formed in 1939 with Bob Wallace as the secretary. Harry Dixon, John H. Brocklebank, and Mike Meszaros, were the trustees. The school was built from logs with volunteer labour on SW31-42-12-W2
Hara School opened September 11, 1939 with an initial enrolment of nine students. Margaret Elliot was the first teacher. Her salary that year was $500.00.

While teaching at Hara there were many mornings that Louis would drive me up to the road at Mesaros’ and from there I’d walk barefooted to school, through the mud, because it was too muddy to keep rubber boots on. Once at school I’d wash my feet and put on shoes and stockings. My feet would be very cold some mornings!
